Blog Ping

Whilst out searching for some new way to attract readers to my blog, I came across this idea called Blog Ping. Basically, you n out some very basic blog info to the sites, and some how it attracts readers to you. Not sure if any of these will work, but a little free advertisement can't hurt.

I used Feed Shark: http://feedshark.brainbliss.com/
HostGator promo codes

Pingates: http://pingates.com/
<a href="http://pingates.com%22%3eping/ Blog

Here to hoping it works!

Fearlessness

Fearlessness is a very powerful word, isn't it?

One day, while watching TV, Law and Order SVU, something which I actually do not watch all that often, I noticed the female lead, portrayed by Mariska Hargitay, wearing a very interesting pendant around her neck: it was a very beautiful, small, gold rectangle that read Fearlessness.

I really liked the pendant, so I thought I would do some digging. Off to the internet I went. What came up was a link to the foundation that the actress had started, called the Joyful Heart Foundation, which supports survivors of abuse. It offers them unique opportunities for healing, usually through a retreat, that may involve swimming with dolphins, nature walks and the like. I was completely fascinated. While I do not live in the US the idea immediately touched my heart, as I too am a survivor of child abuse. I learnt that the pendant, designed and created by Me&Ro, is one way that the Joyful Heart Foundation raises money. I was immediately enthralled and wanted to buy one. Not only did this necklace embody what I wanted to be, but it supported a great cause. Naturally, I ordered one.

Fearlessness.

It is something which I hope to one day embody. It is also the back bone of this blog and my journey. I hope to one day be fearless. No longer afraid of abuse, no longer afraid of myself. No need to hide behind pounds and pounds of fat, no need to hide behind layer upon layer of makeup. No need to hide behind the tough girl exterior. No need to hide behind lies or to cover up the facts.

Hello, my name is Vickie. I was abused as a child - physically, emotionally and sexually. And while I may have some serious issues to work through as a result, that doesn't' make me any less valuable as a human being. I do not need to hide anymore.

I hope that maybe, by wearing the Fearlessness necklace, I will be reminded of this, every time I feel it around my neck. Mine hasn't arrived but did get the email with the tracking information, and it is set to arrive on wednesday.

This Blog

Welcome!

I created this blog to capture my own personal transformation as I work towards changing my self, and ultimately, my life. I also hope that this blog will help to create a dialogue for other people in a similar situation.

As a survivor of child abuse and sexual assault, I have gone out of my way to remain "hidden" in the hopes that no one else ever feels the need to hurt me.

This blog is probably going to end up a smorgasbord of topics, that will not only capture my weight loss journey over the next two years as I try to find myself, but also my emotional journey.
